Beautiful Beads
Everyone needs a stash of unique hand-made beads for embellishing their fabric, mixed media and
jewellery projects--and of course for hand-made journals. We will have fun creating three different
kinds of beads by twisting wire, melting coloured plastic and scrunching paper towels. You will be
amazed at the transformations and you will adore your new beads!
This is a half-day workshop. Because we will be melting plastic, a table outside with access to
electricity is required. There is a kit fee.
Journal Journeys
Make the most beautiful journals you have ever owned! You will love to look at and write in your
new journal. You will be proud to give them as gifts that you made yourself. Warning: These journals
are very addictive.
a) Quilted Journal
To make this elegant quilted journal cover we will weave, paint, free-motion quilt and add the
binding. Then we will prepare the papers and add the beads while assembling the journal.
This is a one day workshop. Participants must be confident with free motion stitching.
Sewing machine required. There is a kit fee.
b) Canvas Journal
To make a beautiful, hand-painted journal cover we will paint, stamp, stencil, roll and scratch the
canvas to achieve stunning results. We will paint two journal covers and assemble one 5" by 7"
journal during the workshop.
This is a one day workshop. There is a kit fee.
c) Hard Cover Journal
For the hard cover journal we will use fabric that you have already embellished for the cover. We
will make one 5" by 7" journal in the workshop. We will discuss different size and format options.
This is a one day workshop. There is a kit fee.
Love that Lutradur!
We will paint, stamp and stencil some backgrounds on Lutradur and then the fun begins. You will
have an opportunity to use an Embellisher which does machine felting to add glitz to your Lutradur.
You will create 3-D butterflies and dragonflies for your art quilts, cards or other projects. Using
a soldering iron and heat tool you will create lace-like leaves and petals. We will also use Angelina,
foils, painted WunderUnder and images printed on organza. Many examples will be shown to get
your creative juices flowing.
This can be a one or two day workshop. There is a kit fee.
